Join us for our fifth annual "Kick-off party and Band Competition." Last year was a huge success and a great way to lead us into the Festival on Saturday. This year promises to be even better! The event will be held at the Hardee's at 2780 Keith Street NW in Cleveland. We will have a live US101 remote on-site, as well as some of the area's finest 'amateur' bluegrass bands dueling it out to win a chance to open our 2011 Festival at Tri-State Exhibition Center the next day. Again in 2011, the evening will end with an all-star set by members of one of the area's hottest bands, Just Us Bluegrass Band. And of course, there will be plenty of delicious food available at Hardee's during the event. Y'all come!

SIERRA HULL & HIGHWAY 111
Secrets - the debut album she recorded at 15, and released at 16 - struck the ear with sensibilities that seemed both seasoned and fresh; kids' stuff this was not. Three years and a move from her family's home in tiny Byrdstown, Tennessee. to Boston's Berklee College of Music later, she's followed with one of the most surefooted transitions into early adulthood put to record. Thirty seconds into the opening track, she sings a line that puts a fine point on it: "I'm not a child anymore."
Of course, the evidence of Sierra's uncommon maturity - musical and personal (one might say she embodies the perfect balance of humility and capability) - has been there all along, and won her formidable fans: by age 11, Alison Krauss had called with an invitation to the Opry stage; by 12, Rounder was expressing interest; first Ron Block and now Barry Bales have served as co-producers, and her studio bands have featured the cream of the contemporary bluegrass crop - Stuart Duncan, Randy Kohrs and Bryan Sutton this time, alongside members of Sierra's own crack band Highway 111. Then there's the fact that Berklee gave her the school's most prestigious award, the Presidential Scholarship, a first for a bluegrass musician; her choice to accept it, to delay her dream of hitting the road full-time after high school in favor of expanding her musical worldview, was hardly a light one.
JOSH WILLIAMS BAND
The Josh Williams Band became one of the leading explosive tributes to the tradition of music last season, after a nomination to the final round as IBMA's Emerging Artist for 2009 set their course. Their smooth vocals hold the fans spellbound. Josh, Randy, Jason & Nick blend hypnotically to take their audiences through all realms of musical sentiment, from easy-going ballads to fiery, hard-driving instrumentals. The band's unique chemistry with each other, their charisma and connection to their fans, along with their inherent musical and lyrical gifts, are producing riveting performances to sold-out audiences. Their instant appeal to every demographic is soaring JWB to new heights. With the electrically-charged magical sounds that make them so popular, Josh led the band to become "the people's choice" when they won 2010 IBMA Emerging Artist.
THE LONE MOUNTAIN BAND
Original and Traditional instrumentals and vocals always with a deep respect for the traditional music of the Appalachians, our shows are like a mini Bluegrass variety show featuring each member of the band in several related styles of selections including fiddle tunes, bluegrass banjo tunes, clawhammer banjo tunes, guitar tunes, and vocals, all presented with friendly and entertaining commentary. We want the crowd to feel like they are talking with old friends after our show.
